Sharpness is one of the things most of us want to get right when taking photos. But alas, there are so many things that can mess up our plans. In this video from Adorama, Gavin Hoey will share seven great tips that will help you overcome the obstacles and get tack sharp portraits every time. So, why are your portraits not sharp enough or they are downright blurry? Here are seven things that often go wrong, but also the suggestions on how to fix them....

As you know, my gear was stolen in broad daylight as the camera was rolling two weeks ago in a public San Francisco park. Another photographer got hit this week near San Francisco and way worse than I did. He was parked near Battery Spencer Park in Sausalito, in the Marin Headlands, which offers one of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge, and thieves bashed in his SUV windows and fled with multiple cameras, computers, hard drives, and more....

It’s happened before that musicians get fed up with people who watch a concert through their smartphones. This time, the frontman of punk-rock band Fidlar, Zac Carper, fought against it. Quite literally. As a fan jumped onstage and tried taking a selfie, Carper slapped the phone right out of her hand, sending it into the crowd. Those fast f/1.0 Fuji lenses have been rumoured for a long time. Fuji Rumors posted about an XF 33mm f/1.0 lens that would offer a similar field of view on Fuji X cameras to a 50mm lens on full-frame way back in 2015. Then it was added to the Fuji roadmap in 2018, with price leaks last year before the lens was cancelled completely. Fuji might have given up on the XF33mm f/1....

If you shoot film and Fujichrome Velvia 100 is your film of choice, I have some bad news for you. The film has been labeled toxic, so Fujifilm was forced to discontinue it in the US. The chemical in question is phenol, isopropylated phosphate (3:1), or PIP (3:1). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has labeled it as toxic and banned or limited its production and use. Even though t tiny amount of PIP (3:1) can be found in layers of Fujichrome Velvia 100, the company had to stop producing it....

Last month, Godox took a walk on the 80s side with the release of the new retro-themed Lux Junior on-camera manual flash. Well, now they’ve gone even more retro, dialling things back another decade or two, with the announcement of a new 60s-themed Godox Lux Senior. The Godox Lux Senior is styled around one of those satellite dish-looking flashes that fan out with a bulb in the centre. Fortunately, the new Godox Lux Senior doesn’t come with the problems such flashes had in the past – like one-time-use bulbs....

Google is launching a new feature that will make photographers really happy. When you specify license information for your photos, they will have the “Licensable” badge on the thumbnails in Google Images. This way, people will know that the image is available for licensing (and no, it’s not free just because it’s on Google). There will also be a link to license details in the Image Viewer, so people can learn how they can buy and use your photo....

For Google Drive users, Google Backup and Sync will be the replacement. For commercial G Suite customers, Drive File Stream is the new main system. But as of this moment, Google Drive for Mac & PC is officially deprecated. Support will end on December 11th, 2017, and it will shut down completely on March 12th, 2018. While it’s still a pain to have to transition over to new software, and there is that time limit, the costs seem to be the same....

In October 2017, Google announced Clips, a tiny camera that captures your daily life and keeps the most memorable moments. There was no word on availability, but it appears that Google has finally launched Clips for preorders, at least in certain countries. As Google wrote in a recent blog post, they hired professional photographers and a filmmaker to help train the camera. The price was announced earlier, and judging from Google Store, it remains the same....

After some leaked photos and specs, GoPro HERO10 Black has now officially been announced. GoPro’s latest flagship camera looks exactly like its predecessor, but it brings some significant improvements, especially in the video department. The HERO10 is equipped with the new GP2 processor for faster performance. As we already learned from the leaked specs, video resolution is improved over the HERO9. Instead of the 5K/30fps, the newest action camera shoots 5....

Like GoPro’s cameras, the biggest feature of the Karma is its ease of use. The most notable part of that being that the arms fold in. This makes it very simple to fit into all but the tiniest of backpacks. The removable gimbal also allows you to quickly switch from using your camera on the drone to in your hand. Photos of flying or levitating food can look epic, but they seem intimidating to create. However, it doesn’t have to be difficult. In this video, Skyler Burt of We Eat Together will show you an easy way of creating flying food photos. To pull this off, Skyler uses two light stands on two sides of the table.
