Kenko Tokina Japan has announced three new manual focus lenses for APS-C mirrorless cameras. The three lenses are all super telephoto, being extremely long in terms of focal length all quite short in physical length. This design is due to the fact that they’re reflex lenses. Essentially, they contain mirrors to house a longer focal length inside a shorter barrel. But even for reflex lenses, they look pretty odd. The three lenses have focal lengths of 300mm, 600mm and 900mm, and they’re coming to Indiegogo....

According to the Australian website, Inside Imaging, the Kodak paper and chemistry business was just sold to a Chinese company, Sino Promise Holdings. Sino is a relatively young company and according to their website, they were established in 1993 and are the largest distributor of Kodak Alaris in the world. According to Inside Imaging, Kodak made an internal announcement about the purchase on July 7th. When you look at the combined statements of Inside Imaging and Sino holdings, this report makes sense....

In early 2017, Kodak introduced its on-demand photography service Kodakit. While it may have sounded like a good idea, it turns out that the service is not on photographers’ side at all. All participating photographers are asked to give up all copyrights to the photos they take. The photo assignment agency also requires them to give up the moral rights and assume all legal risks of their assignments. And as if that weren’t enough: there’s also the possibility that photographers might not get paid if clients don’t like the photos....

Kolari Vision has announced a new set of clip-in magnetic filters for the Canon EOS R5. They mount inside the camera body in front of the sensor but behind the lens. It’s compatible with native RF mount lenses or when using the EF to RF adapter. Kolari initially announced the clip-in filter system for the EOS R system last September. Now, though, it’s finally here. There are two types of filters available....

Leica Camera has released a new Leica M10-P camera and Summicron-M 50mm f/2 lens. They’re a lot like the old M10-P and 50mm f/2 lens, except these are limited “Safari” edition. Leica says that the release of these items “reopens a beloved chapter in Leica Camera’s ongoing tradition of special olive green camera releases”. There will only be 1,500 M10-P cameras up for sale worldwide and only 500 of the matching lens....

The complete Leica press release confirming the “strategic cooperation” between Leica, Panasonic and Sigma has leaked ahead of today’s official announcement. The (Google translated) press release (original in German here) doesn’t say what cameras or lenses might be announced, just that the three companies are working together to release full frame & APS-C cameras and lenses using the Leica L mount. A quote from Sigma CEO, Kazuto Yamaki, does confirm, though, that Sigma is planning to release cameras based on the Leica L mount and not just lenses....

If there’s one thing most Lightroom users agree about, it’s that the program could use a speed boost. In its latest announcement, Adobe introduces GPU-accelerated editing in Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw. It should make the editing process smoother and make the programs faster and more responsive. FiLMiC Pro has been my go to app for mobile video for the past few years. Whether I want to shoot a quick personal clip or shoot some behind the scenes footage, it mostly works great. There’s one or two issues, like drifting audio and no ability to shoot 23.976fps (it does exactly 24), but it’s still the most useful video app out there. One thing that’s a big problem common to all mobile video apps, though, is the contrast and colour typically provided by most phones sucks....

Lomography has announced HydroChrome Sutton’s Panoramic Belair Camera, a 35mm film camera that uses a strange (and pretty cool) liquid-filled lens. If the concept sounds familiar, it’s because this type of lens is included with DIY cardboard camera Lomomod No. 1. Only this time, you won’t need to assemble anything on your own. HydroChrome is a panoramic 35mm camera with a fixed-focus lens. Thomas Sutton’s original liquid-filled lens inspires it; only this one is a contemporary and plastic version of it....

Being a maid of honor is a big privilege and carries great responsibility. Sharilyn Wester performed her duty and made her best friend’s wedding photos unforgettable. While Rebecca Foster and her husband James did the wedding photoshoot, Sharilyn proposed to take some photos where she’ll be tossing the bride’s veil. A mountain guide has shared an astounding video of a rare phenomenon only seen during a volcanic eruption. Volcanic lightning is seldom seen, and even more rarely is it captured on video. The guide Chino Adventuras captured the rare footage while showing tourists the the summit of Volcán de Fuego in Guatemala. In September 2016 my Photography Agents, Vaughn-Hannigan, abruptly closed their doors after 10 years in business.
