Zhiyun has today announced an update to their ever-popular Crane 2 gimbal. Not surprisingly, it comes in the form of the Zhiyun Crane 2S. Over the original, it offers increased load capacity, a more extensive camera compatibility list, axis locks, an improved follow focus wheel, larger OLED screen, more shooting modes to match the rest of the gimbals in Zhiyun’s current lineup and greater accessory connectivity. I’ve had one here to play with for a couple of days so far, and we’ll have a much more extensive review coming in the near future, but here are some of its major features and differences over the original Zhiyun Crane 2....

Not long after Verizon took over Yahoo and Flickr, we can see the first changes. The once popular platform is terminating their service which allows users to turn their photos into wall art. Also, they’re giving up the book printing service. However, it won’t be terminated completely, but turned over to Blurb instead. If you own a Flickr Pro account and choose to create a Blurb book via Flickr, you’ll get some rewards....

We are big fans or Eric Pare and Kim Henry, the photographer/dancer duo has created some epic art over the years. Now, they are coming back with a new technique that involves fog machine, a projector and some copper lights. The shooting was done to celebrate Eric’s new light painting studio, and a celebration they had. 85mm is a commonly used lens, very much loved by portrait photographers. If you’re thinking of buying one, photographer Dustin Abbott is giving quite a detailed comparison in his two new videos. A while back Tom Saimon and I took the Godox AD600 for a spin. It was an awesome shoot of a sports trainer, and the results were quite satisfying. All the users of Fuji mirrorless cameras, you may soon get your hands on a new smart adapter. Fringer has developed world’s first Fujifilm X mount – Contax N electronic adapter. It will give you autofocus and electronic aperture control on a mirrorless camera while using an N mount lens. The adapter is designed as a full electronic lens mount which enables you to use the N mount lens on a mirrorless Fujifilm camera....

One of the things that many video shooters will be very familiar with is the 4GB file size limit in place on many cameras. This is due to the limitations of the file systems used within most cameras. Many get around the issue by splitting long clips up into smaller files, with each seamlessly carrying on from where the last one ended. But it’s a lot less hassle if each clip is in its own individual file, isn’t it?...

Fuji’s line of X cameras are well known for their great colour. They’re ability to simulate classic films like Velvia and Provia gives photographers what they want straight out of the camera. As such, there’s little to really do to them in post. We got used to hearing about Fujifilm announcing new cameras and other photo gear. But recently, the company launched Film Simulation instant noodles. Yup, you read that right – noodles. Fujifilm is using them as promotional material in Korea, and although it’s unusual, it looks like a successful marketing move. I must admit I was utterly confused when I first saw the title about Fujifilm noodles. But then I watched the video above, in which Dylan Goldby and Roy Cruz cook them and style them for a photo....

It was two years ago when Fujifilm introduced SQ10, its first analog-digital hybrid. The company is now teasing another Instant camera with LCD screen, and it’s possible that this time it will use the Instax Mini instead of Instax Square film. Instax HQ tweeted about the upcoming camera, but without revealing too much detail. The official announcement arrives on 12 June, and all we know so far is that the new camera will feature an LCD screen....

If there’s one early photography pioneer worth making a movie about, it has to be Eadweard Muybridge. He was a progenitor of motion picture and recognized for the iconic series of photographs titled “The Horse in Motion”. But it wasn’t just his contributions in photography that he became known for, for he also gained infamy for murdering his wife’s lover back in the late 1800s. It’s just been confirmed that Gary Oldman will be writing, directing, and acting in the photographer’s biopic titled ‘The Flying Horse”....

Only a few days ago, some eagle-eyed folks spotted that Canon had removed the universal flash pin on their lower end DSLRs. Now, Godox has responded with new firmware updates to take the missing pin into account. Most of Godox’s most popular items for Canon now have compatibility with the Canon EOS 1500D/2000D/Rebel T7, EOS 3000D/4000D/Rebel T100. The new firmwares are available to download from the Godox website. The patch notes aren’t very long and most were created purely to fix this issue....

Travelling with gear can be a major pain. Usually, I tend to travel with gear to cover events, so I have to pack a lot of it. But when I’m just travelling for myself, perhaps to visit friends, I generally pack pretty light with my camera gear. It’s easy to overpack, though, if you’re not careful. We often want to take all the gear we own, “just in case”. If you have been using the unlimited storage feature of G Suite to back up your photos and videos, wait before moving into Google Workplace. Google Workspace only has unlimited storage on enterprise plans. Google made some big noise about replacing the G Suite with an even better Google Workspace. Among the many changes that may or may not be incredible for you, one change is clearly not in favor of high storage users....

In case you missed it recently, Google Photos has decided to end their free unlimited photo hosting service. Beginning in June of next year users will be limited to 15GB of space before being asked to pay for more storage. How much you’ll have to pay will depend on how much storage you use. Unfortunately for me, I have more photos than fit their top tier $100/year plan, so even if I wanted to pay I’d be capped out of the service....

The upcoming Google Pixel 4 smartphone will be aimed at photographers just like its predecessors. And this time, it looks like astrophotographers will have something to look forward to. According to a recently leaked promo video, the Pixel 4 will take good photos even in the dark, and it could even have a dedicated astrophotography mode. The video seems to be an official ad from Google, showing off the Pixel 4’s expected features....

There’s been a word that GoPro Hero6 could be launched by the end of this year. We didn’t know many details then, but the latest leaked photo of the camera and the box tells us more. Apparently, the upcoming GoPro Hero6 will shoot video at 4K at 60fps (like the new iPhone). For comparison, the Hero5 shoots at 4K 30fps. From the leaked photo, we can see some of the features on the camera box....

Hasselblad has announced the latest innovation in their range of aerial cameras. They have introduced their latest model, Hasselblad A6D-100c, a 100MP medium format aerial camera. It’s built upon its previous models, but with improved features and higher resolution. Hasselblad A6D-100c features a 100 MP CMOS sensor and the ISO range from 64 to 12,800. It’s available with or without Infra-Red filter for infra-red captures from 750nm to 1000nm. This can serve the needs of aerial analysis, such as environment surveying and crop management....
