Keeping my gear organised is often one of my biggest problems. I have 3 bags that regularly come out with me on shoots, and they’re beautifully organised. With little checklists and everything. But the rest of the gear around my house, that I might only use once every month or two, well, those items can sometimes take a while to find. I’ve been thinking I should sort through all that stuff and organise it properly recently....
Getty Images has announced an exclusive distribution partnership with 500px. Starting from late June 2018, 500px Marketplace will quit direct sales and e-commerce. Instead, Getty Images customers will be able to access royalty-free content from 500px, along with over 300 million images already available on Getty. As the official press release reads, 500px will continue to represent its photographers and Getty Images will have exclusive global distribution rights. Considering that 500px was bought by Visual China Group (VCG) back in February, this looks like Getty is licensing images for a competitor....

The popular online video collaboration platform Frame.io’s acquisition by Adobe, is now completed, the companies have announced. Adobe’s goal, they say is to use the combination of its video software offerings – such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects – with Frame.io’s cloud-based review and approval functionality to “radically accelerate” the creative process. Frame.io presents over a million users, many of whom are already using Adobe’s applications, and Adobe wants to get more users into the collaborative environment and get rid of what they call disjointed and inefficient workflows....
Adobe has announced financial results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2019. The results reveal that the company has achieved record revenue, both quarterly and annually. The quarterly revenue for the last quarter of 2019 is $2.99 billion, whereas the annual revenue is whopping $11.17 billion. The quarterly revenue of $2.99 billion represents 21 percent year-over-year growth. As for the annual revenue of $11.17 billion, it represents 24 percent year-over-year growth....
I’m still digesting the sad news announcing that Agfa Vista 200 has been discontinued. IBC Show, the popular video, cinema and broadcast trade show in Amsterdam is typically held in September. Last year, it was cancelled. This year, it’s been postponed slightly until December 3rd and running until December 6th. They’ve just made an announcement stating that the IBC Partnership Board has decided to continue with the planned event because they believe they can still do it safely. Their aim is to “re-engage the industry after a very challenging year”....

Earlier this month, DJI announced the best 2017 drone photos of their SkyPixel contest. The winner got valuable prizes, but then it turned out that the photo wasn’t even shot from a drone. As a matter of fact, it wasn’t even shot in 2017, but three years earlier. The rules of the contest require photographers to submit photos taken using “any aerial platform” and taken in 2017. However, PetaPixel reports that the winning image in the Landscape category doesn’t meet either of the requirements....
After a 14-year-old girl took her own life several years ago, both her parents and the public wondered how big of a role social media might have had in her suicide. According to coroner Andrew Walker: a big one! Last week, Walker assessed the responsibility of social media in the suicide of yet another teenager. According to a patent unearthed by Japanese blog Hi Low Note, Canon appears to be working on a new IBIS system. Great news for those who were annoyed by the distinct lack of any kind of stabilisation in the new Canon EOS R Mirrorless camera. There has been statements about why Canon didn’t include IBIS, but it was never ruled out as a possibility in future models. Interestingly, though, this patent doesn’t actually show a mirrorless camera, but a DSLR....
When a company like Canon, or, well, any company, really, produces a camera that claims to shoot as high as ISO 4,500,000, such as the MH20F-SH, it makes one wonder if it’s all just a marketing gimmick or if it’s actually really any good at the extremely low light levels that demand such high sensitivity. The video was shared to the Canon USA YouTube channel, where Downing talks about the ME20F-SH to shoot some scenes of fluorescent insects and plants in virtually no light – which Canon believes might have proven impossible for any other camera available at the time....
