Looks like Tamron is cooking a new 70-300mm lens for Sony E-mount. Only days ahead of the official announcement, a photo and some specs have leaked for the new E-mount version of the Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD.

The specs and the photo initially leaked on a Russian website and Nokishita tweeted the link. However, the link now only says “Page Not Found” as it has probably been removed. Still, there are some information still preserved by Nokishita and Photo Rumors.

https://twitter.com/nokishita_c/status/1290139436546535425 While there are no detailed specs yet, what we do know is that the Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 will be very small and lightweight for a telephoto zoom: 148mm in length, weighing 545g, and with 77mm maximum body diameter. The leaked announcement also promises “superior optical performance” with “high image quality and effective aberration correction,” although without further details. The lens is designed for full-frame Sony cameras, with RXD stepping motor for fast, precise, and quiet autofocus. And lastly, it’s also moisture-resistant so you can use it in less than ideal weather conditions. There’s still no word on the price of the new Tamron 70-300mm. However, the leaked announcement was supposed to be published on 4 August, which is as soon as tomorrow. So, I guess we won’t wait much longer until we know more, and we’ll keep you posted.
