It’s nothing new for Meta to enrich Instagram with features picked up from other popular apps. But here’s an unusual claim: Instagram’s next new feature could come from, believe it or not, MySpace. Mobile developer and reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi recently discovered a cool new feature that might be coming to Instagram. Well, it’s new for Instagram, but it’s been out there a while – the app will soon let you add a song to your profile.
Alessandro tweeted his findings about the “add a song” feature. When you go edit your profile, you’ll see the “Add a song to your profile.” When you tap on it, Instagram will let you pick a song, and it will show on your profile.
When first discovering this feature, Alessandro noted that the music couldn’t be played in the profile. However, it changed in the meantime.
A similar feature already exists in Stories and of course, Reels. So I don’t see why it wouldn’t be included in Instagram profiles as well. As for MySpace, I haven’t been there in ages, even before “MySpace Tom” sold it and became a photographer. But I know that this was one of its popular features – and Instagram is known for “looking up” to popular features from other apps like Snapchat, TikTok, and even BeReal. But then again, there’s another app I can think of that lets you add a song: Tinder. So, did Instagram really pick it up from MySpace or elsewhere… Well, we can only guess. [via Digital Trends]
