Sigma Global has announced an “Online New Product Presentation” set for April 27th. Given some recent Tweets from Nokishita, it looks like it’s going to be the official announcement for the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art series lens for Panasonic and Sony mirrorless systems. They’ve leaked some of the specs for the new lens, along with a price, stating that it’s been added to some overseas retailers already. Surprisingly, there don’t appear to be any product photos of the actual lens yet, which is designed for Leica L mount and Sony E mount systems and expected to cost $899, but no doubt they’ll start to pop up in the next few days.

Here’s the list of leaked specs so far. We’ll update this as we find out more or they’re confirmed (or disputed) by Sigma’s announcement next week. Compared to the previous Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art series lens for E mount – which was basically just the DSLR version of the lens with a built-in tube to fix the flange distance – it adds $100 to the price but loses a little in weight. Ok, so it’s not a massive weight saving, shaving off a mere 26g from the Sony E mount version, but it is lighter. On the size, though, it actually gains a little on the length, going from around 94mm to 111.5mm for the E mount version. https://twitter.com/nokishita_c/status/1384647104425979913 The price is expected to be $899, which is a touch more than the existing 35mm f/1.4 Art series lens for DSLRs, but that’s not an unreasonable figure considering the performance gains it should offer over the older E mount version (or the EF mount lens converted to E or L mount). Nokishita does still class this as a rumour, even though they say it’s been “added to overseas retailers”. Sigma is expected to hold an online presentation on April 27th and I think we can be pretty sure that this new lens will be the focus of that presentation.
