The AF features of Fujifilm X-T3 are pretty impressive, judging from the tests so far. But it doesn’t only work well with native lenses: the X-T3 nails focus even with a 600mm lens paired with a Fringer adapter. In this video from Fringer, check out how well the Fujifilm XT-3 performs even with a non-native, adapted telephoto lens.
In this demo, a Fujifilm X-T3 was paired with a Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS USM and a Fringer EF-FX adapter. The camera was set to AF-C tracking and there were two tests: photo and video. The performance for shooting stills was tested on a subject riding a motorcycle towards the camera. You can see in the video that the AF point is quickly picked up and the performance is fantastic. 30 photos were taken for less than 3 seconds, and each of them is tack sharp. Another test was done for the video, with two subjects walking towards the camera. Once again, the face/eye AF did a pretty good job. Fringer writes that the support for Canon EF600/4L II lens will be added into the next firmware version (V2.50) of Fringer EF-FX Pro adapters, and it will be “released soon.” Make sure to watch the video for the demonstration, and you can also read more on Fringer’s blog.
