Italian company, LucAdapters is famous for making the Magicbooster; A focal length reducer for the Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K and various other cameras, bringing them up to a full-frame field of view while retaining the native mount on the camera. It sits between the sensor and the lens mount in order to do its magic. Now, LucAdapters has announced the Magicbooster Pocket 6K, which will allow you to use full-frame Canon EF mount lenses on the Pocket 6K and get the full field of view, while also giving a bit of a speed boost.

There’s no video for the new one yet, but here’s how their adapter worked in the URSA Mini 4K. I expect the principle will be about the same. Unscrew the ring, remove the IR filter glass, drop in the LucAdapters Magicbooster, replace the IR filter, and then close it back up.

The current price on the LucAdapters Pocket 6K is €610 including tax, which the LucAdapters website says is a special offer discounted from a list price of €699 – a 12% reduction. How long it’ll stay this way is anybody’s guess. If being able to shoot full-frame RAW video is your thing, this definitely seems to be the most cost-effective option. There’s no word on when they’ll start shipping yet, though. But as we hear more, we’ll let you know.
