Chinese lens manufacturer TTArtisan is known for very affordable lenses with a good price-quality ratio. The company has just released a fast 50mm f/1.2 lens for APS-C cameras. Since it costs only $98, I guess we could call this one a “thrifty-fifty.”

The new TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 is available in Canon M, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds, and Sony E mount. On a Canon M camera, it gives the equivalent focal length of 80mm. On a Fuji X and Sony E camera, you get 75mm equivalent focal length, and 100mm on an MFT camera.

Considering the price, I believe that this won’t come as a surprise: the lens offers only manual focusing. It’s made of seven elements in five groups and features an all-metal design. The aperture has ten blades, which should make for a pretty neat bokeh. According to the sample photos, the bokeh is indeed very pleasing. As for the minimum focusing distance, it’s 50cm (1.64 feet). You can now order TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 for Canon M, Fuji X, Micro Four Thirds, or Sony E, and each model costs $98.
