It’s not exactly news that Viltrox has been planning to expand its lens lineup, and two of the three new lenses designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras have now been released in Canon EF-M mount for EOS M mirrorless cameras. The Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 STM and 33mm f/1.4 STM are both autofocus lenses with a wide f/1.4 maximum aperture and feature a rugged metal construction with a built-in USB port for firmware updates. Interestingly, they only seem to be available in silver, and not the typical black of the Sony E mount and Fuji X mount versions.
Both lenses are fairly inexpensive, sitting at $299 and $239 for the 23mm and 33mm lenses respectively. Viltrox says that the built-in AF stepper motor offers near-silent performance making it beneficial to both photographers and filmmakers. They also feature dual aperture adjustment while allowing you to set the aperture either from the camera’s dial or by using an aperture ring on the lens itself.
Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 STM – $299
Viltrox 33mm f/1.4 STM – $329
On the mount side of the lens, there’s a hidden micro USB port, which allows you to connect it to your computer for upgrading the firmware of the lens as updates become available. They feature HD Nano multi-layer coatings to help suppress flare and ghosting and to increase contrast and colour when working in strong lighting conditions. The Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 STM for EF-M mount is available to buy now for $299. The Viltrox 33mm f/1.4 STM for EF-M mount is also available to buy now for $239. Both lenses are shipping.
