There are also special awards: Portfolio Award and Conservation Award. BPOTY also chooses Young Bird Photographers of the Year, one from each age group: 8 and under, 9-13 years, and 14-17 years. The overall winner will be chosen from category winners. He or she will be awarded a £5,000 cash prize and the title of Bird Photographer of the Year. All winners will be announced in September 2021, and the 2022 contest opens towards the end of this year.
