Limiting yourself can boost your creativity, but how many limitations can a photographer handle? Well, Jessica Kobeissi teamed up with Vuhlandes to try and answer this question. In this ridiculously fun challenge, the duo took photos on a $10 children’s camera. It doesn’t have AF or optical zoom, it doesn’t let you change lenses, it doesn’t have a touchscreen… So, let’s see if pro photographers can do anything with this children’s toy that happens to shoot photos.
The challenge for both photographers was to take as many good shots as they possibly could with the Bunny Camera over the course of five minutes. After the shooting was done, each of them chose the three best shots. It was quite a challenge, considering that the camera doesn’t allow controlling any of the settings. But it looks like they had fun despite all the difficulties. I actually quite like the photos Jessica took, even though the image quality is like they were shot on a Nokia 3310. Other than being funny to watch, challenges like this remind us that you can take a decent photo with pretty much any camera. Sure, it probably won’t end up in your portfolio due to image quality, but exercises like this boost creativity and let you step outside the box. Oh, and they’re really fun.
