Hip hop icons Wu Tang Clan have announced a limited-edition photo book with a pretty unusual concept. Other than being “the biggest and rarest book in the history of Hip Hop,” it’s being delivered inside of a 400-pound (~200kg) sculpture.

The book titled Wu-Tang Clan: Legacy is described as a “large-format ‘coffee table’ style photographic book.” With the size of 21″ x 21″ (53 x 53 cm), it’s the size of an actual coffee table. It contains 300 color pages filled with rare and unseen photos of Wu Tang Clan. They were taken by Danny Hastings, PROTIM PHOTO, Kyle Christie, and Andy Cantillon, but also the Clan’s friends and family.

Legacy comes inside “a chamber,” or the 400 lbs steel and bronze sculpture I mentioned above. Each of the chambers was individually designed by the sculptor Gethin Jones (protégé of Antony Gormley). According to the Legacy website, the sculpture was “inspired by the ancient past and the bronze ritual bowls of the Zhou Dynasty whose first ruler was King Wu-Wang.” Here’s the description, and you can see what it looks like in the video, to get a better idea. Wu-Tang Clan: Legacy is a limited edition book. Very limited, with only 36 of them to be produced and available for purchase worldwide. Each of them will be signed, dated, and numbered with certificates of authenticity provided. I must admit I was especially curious about the price of Legacy. It’s a huge book, inside of a massive sculpture; it only exists in 36 copies and contains rare and unseen photos of hip hop legends. I can only imagine the price, and for now, all of us can because it’s still not officially disclosed. We’ll update the article if we know more, of course. And if you’d like a “priority access to owning a piece of Hip Hop history,” you can sign up here. via PetaPixel
